Llanerchymedd
Llanerchymedd is a small village in Anglesey, north Wales The village is siutated near to the centre of Anglesey, close to the large water supply reservoir, Llyn Alaw and is believed to have an ancient foundation. The word medd in the name is Welsh for mead which is made from honey and there is speculation that the village may have roots in the production of honey or mead which might suggest a monastic or druidic origin.
There is also a locally held belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus is buried in the village although why Mary should have found herself at the outer edges of the Roman empire at such a fraught time in the history of Anglesey is unknown.
