Lois Lamya al-Faruqi
Lois Lamya al-Faruqi (Lois Ibsen) (July 25, 1926 - May 27, 1986), wife of Ismail Raji' al-Faruqi and an expert in Islamic art. She earned her B.A. in music from the University of Montana (1948) and then entered Indiana University, where she was awarded an M.A. in music (1949). During this period, she met and married Ismail Raji' al-Faruqi. Mrs. al-Faruqi was murdered along with her husband in the morning of May 27, 1986 at their home in Pennsylvania.
Mrs. al-Faruqi also co-authored The Cultural Atlas of Islam with her husband, which was published by Macmillan.
