Lost continent
A Lost Continent is a continent that supposedly once existed, but is now "lost," often vanishing below the ocean.
Most Lost Continents were posited before plate tectonics and continental drift were understood, and any such continent's existence is now considered impossible by mainstream geologists and related experts.
A continent that was "lost" in another sense, being assumed to have current existence for a long time but finally disproved in the 18th century, is Terra Australis.
