Lost in the Cosmos
Lost In the Cosmos is subtitled "The World's Last Self-Help Book." A parody of this genre, Walker Percy's 1982 book contains numerous essays, quizzes, and "thought experiments" designed to satirize conventional self-help texts while provoking readers to undertake a thoughtful contemplation of their existential situations and the search for meaning and purpose that could derive from such reflections. The book is hilarious at times and amusing throughout, showcasing the usually more serious-minded author's sense of humor.
