The Lycaenidae are a large family of butterflies, also known as the Gossamer-winged butterflies. Subfamilies include the blues Polyommatinae, the coppers Lycaeninae, the hairstreaks Theclinae and the harvesters Miletinae.
Some species:
- Common Blue, Polyommatus icarus
- El Segundo blue butterfly, Euphilotes battoides allyni
- Great Purple Hairstreak, Atlides halesus
- Large blue butterfly, Maculinea arion
- Palos Verdes Blue, Glaucopsyche lygdamus palosverdesensis
- Xerces Blue, Glaucopsyche xerces (extinct)
