Lyon Mountain is on Route Route 374 in the western part of the town.
Lyon Mountain is located at 44°43'44" North, 73°54'28" West (44.728863, -73.907905).
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 458 people, 214 households, and 129 families residing in the hamlet. The population density is 17.4/km² (45.0/mi²). There are 234 housing units at an average density of 8.9/km² (23.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 95.85% White, 0.22% African American, 1.09% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.22% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 2.62% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 214 households out of which 22.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.2% are married couples living together, 8.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.3% are non-families. 36.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 22.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.14 and the average family size is 2.72.
In the community the population is spread out with 18.3% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 22.5% from 25 to 44, 30.6% from 45 to 64, and 22.9% who are 65 years of age or older.
