Måløy
Måløy is a town, and the administrative centre of the municipality of Vågsøy in the county of Sogn og Fjordane, Norway.
Måløy is located on the island giving the municipality its name, and connected to the mainland part by bridge. The town of Måløy was originally founded on the small Måløy island between the large island of Vågsøy and the mainland. The town grew over to the island of Vågsøy. During WWII the small island was used for a coastal fortress. At the end of the war there was no civilian population left on the original location of Måløy. So today the town of Måløy is not an island although the last part of its name (øy) means island.
Måløy will be a main port for the Tall Ships' Race in 2008.
