Machico is a town located in the northeastern part of the Madeira Islands. The town was founded in 1451. Machico is the easternmost municipality on the island by a cape. It is located NE of Funchal, NW of the Savage Islands and WSW of Porto Santo.
The island is linked by a road linking to the northern part and to Funchal.
The main source of industry are agriculture and fishing while a small number of businesses are in the downtown area.
