Magnus Aronson

Magnus Aronson (born March 12, 1972, Mora, Sweden) is a filmmaker and artist. After a few years in Stockholm and Uppsala (and a brief stay in New York), he moved to Denmark to be a student at the European Film College in Ebeltoft. In 1998 he moved to London to complete a Master of Arts degree in Interactive Media at the London Institute. He currently lives in Bethnal Green, East London.

As a musician, he was a founding member of the experimental/commercial electro-rock band The White Sport (together with Electra Dimitriadou and Andrew Aveling). His song She is Groovy was a club hit, and was included on the No 5 CD, released by the fashion shop Colette in Paris. He was also founding member of the following bands: Fnoalle (1995-1996), Breakdance Accident (1998) and Marseille Killaz (2002-2003).

As a filmmaker he has been involved in Documentary as well as Art and Fiction film. He was a student of Documentary Direction at the English National Film & TV School in 2003. His films have been shown at the Uppsala Short Film Festival, the Courtisane Film Festival in Ghent and at the Reykjavík Film Festival. In December 2003 he founded Tempography [1], together with the Swiss artist Anthony Bannwart. This is a video art project that explores the area between still images and moving images. At the moment, Magnus is developing ideas for TV documentaries in England and Sweden.

In November 2003 he set up and directed an experimental theatre piece/art performance for five actors, Test. This piece explored the meaning of 'the ritual' in art and occultism in a humorous way.
