Malabar Hill
Malabar Hill, in southern Mumbai (formerly Bombay), India, is the location of Walkeshwar Temple founded by the Silhara kings, destroyed by the Portuguese and rebuilt in 1715 by a person called Rama Kamath .
The Banganga Tank attached to the temple is the oldest structure in Mumbai. Hindu mythology has it that the Lord Rama, on his way to Sri Lanka to rescue his kidnapped wife, Sita, felt thirsty and stopped at the location of the Banganga Tank and shot an arrow into the ground. A water fountain erupted and Lord Rama quenched his thirst. They say that the very same hole in the ground still fills the Banganga tank till today.
The high wealth area is host to many important personalities. The Chief Minister of the state has his residence as well as other notable people. Hanging Gardens, a popular park, is also located in the area.
