Malchus

In the New Testament of the Bible, Malchus was the name of a servant of the high priest who helped try to arrest Jesus. Peter, one of the disciples, was armed.

Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus. — (John 18:10, KJV)
Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the scabbard: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it? — (John 18:11, KJV)

Jesus heals Malchus's ear (his last recorded miracle) and is led off to eventually be crucified. The story illustrates non-violence and surrender to God's will.

The story is related in all four gospels, but Malchus is mentioned by name only in John.
