Malcolm Wilson

Charles Malcolm Wilson (February 26, 1914 - March 13, 2000) was the Governor of New York from December 18, 1973 to January 1, 1975. He was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1939 to 1958. He also served in the Navy during World War II. In 1958, he was elected lieutenant governor on a ticket with Nelson A. Rockefeller, and served in that position until Rockefeller resigned. Wilson's attempt to be elected governor on his own right was thwarted by the election of Hugh L. Carey. After his retirement from politics, Wilson was President of the Manhattan Savings Bank. In 1994, the Tappan Zee Bridge was renamed in honor of Wilson.
