Mallika Sherawat
Mallika Sherawat (born Reema Lamba) is an Indian actress and model who is infamously known for her controversial sex related statements. She has become the first Indian actress to work with Jackie Chan.
Reema Lamba adopted the screen name of Mallika to avoid confusion with other actresses named Reema. Mallika meaning "empress" is what she likes to call herself. Sherawat is her mother's maiden surname, and adopting the name was an acknowledgement to her mother's support in making Reema an actress. [1]
In July 2004, the film producers' union IMPAA had banned Mallika from Bollywood, after a complaint filed by filmmaker Ramesh Sharma over breach of contract, and refusal to turn up on the dates committed for the film Kab Kyun Kahan (started in 1999). [2]
Mallika acquired a sex symbol tag after the film Murder (2004) in which she starred, became one of the most successful films of the year.
