Manchester Royal Infirmary
2002 sees the 250th anniversary of the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI). MRI first began as a small house able to care for twelve patients in Withy Grove in 1752. Followed by St Mary’s Hospital in 1790, the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in 1814, and the University Dental Hospital in 1884. The Infirmary then moved to the area now known as Piccadilly Gardens and then in 1908 in partnership with the University it relocated to our current site on Oxford Road.
Now part of the Central Manchester and Manchester Children's University Hospitals NHS Trust.
