Manhattanville College

Manhattanville College is a private college located in Purchase, New York in Westchester County. Founded in 1841 as the Academy of the Sacred Heart, the college is now co-educational and non-denominational.

The college offers programs in about forty areas.

The recently appointed president Richard Berman has managed the school in such a way as to propel it to the first tier of schools located in the Northeast which award Master's degrees in U.S. News and World Report's College Rankings.

Ranked #15 for Diverse Student Population. Kaplan’s The Unofficial, (Un)biased Guide to the 331 Most Interesting Colleges, 2005 Edition:

Editors Trent and Seppy conclude, “Manhattanville has come from behind to become one of the top small colleges in the nation and is in the forefront of issues like affirmative action and First Amendment Rights. For such a small school, there’s a lot going on here!” "There's no loss for things to do on campus." Men's and women's ice hockey is internationally ranked. Manhattanville is cross-referenced with Skidmore and Hamilton.

2005 U.S. News & World Report’s America’s Best Colleges:

Manhattanville retained its top tier ranking in “Best Universities – Masters: North.” Factors considered included: faculty/student ratio (12:1), percent of classes with fewer than 20 students (75%) and percent of classes with 50 or more students (0%).

2005 Fiske Guide to Colleges:

Fiske called Manhattanville’s career services department “phenomenal” for helping students secure internship opportunities at some of the major corporations in Westchester County and nearby New York City.
