MapleMusic Recordings
MapleMusic Recordings is a Canadian independent record label, whose innovative web based marketing strategy has made them a major player in the Canadian music industry.
The MapleMusic label is a project of Canadian country-rock band Skydiggers and entrepreneur Grant Dexter. Other artists who have released albums on MapleMusic include The Dears, Pilate, Gordon Downie, Spirit of the West and Kinnie Starr .
Two singer-songwriters, however, have been particularly responsible for MapleMusic's success: Sam Roberts, who was transformed from a struggling independent musician to a Canadian rock icon practically overnight by his 2001 MapleMusic debut, The Inhuman Condition, and Kathleen Edwards, whose album Failer made her a critical favourite in 2003.
MapleMusic also operates an e-commerce portal, allowing Canadian artists not associated with MapleMusic's label to sell their CDs and merchandise through the site.
