Mark Lamarr

Mark Jones (b. January 7, 1967), better known as Mark Lamarr, is a British comedian and television presenter.

He was born in Swindon and has three elder sisters. Mark passed five O'Levels and dropped out of school at 17. He was plucked from obscurity after writing a poem ('I'm the James Dean of the dole queue', published in 1987). His act developed from poetry to stand-up comedy, and he was spotted on the touring circuit for the launch of Channel Four's The Big Breakfast in 1992 and also co-presented The Word.

He is the host of Never Mind the Buzzcocks, a comedy pop quiz, and was a team captain in the first three series of Shooting Stars (1995-1997), where he displayed a mixture of dour boredom and contempt towards hosts Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer who, in turn, mocked his "50's throw-back" appearance.

On Monday 20 July 1998, he launched his popular radio show on Radio Two called "Shake, Rattle and Roll" where he plays tracks from his personal and sizeable record collection of obscure rock'n'roll gems.
