Martin Jol (born 16th January 1956) is the current head coach of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

Born in Den Haag in The Netherlands, as a player Jol played at FC Den Haag, winning Dutch Player of the Year in 1987.

He also played for English sides Coventry City and West Bromwich Albion during the 1980s and had spells at German side Bayern Munich and Dutch side FC Twente. In 1989 he ended his career as a player.

His coaching career began in 1991 when he took over amateur side ADO Den Haag. In four years he took the club from the Third Division to the First Division.

Between 1998-2004, Jol managed Dutch side RKC Waalwijk where he was the Dutch Football Writers Coach of the Year in 2001 and Dutch Players and Coaches Coach of the Year in 2002. In 2004 he moved to Tottenham Hotspur to be assistant to Jacques Santini.

Santini left the job after just a few months and Jol was made caretaker manager.

His first game in charge was a thrilling 4-5 defeat at home to arch rivals Arsenal. He has since been appointed full-time manager and led Spurs into an impressive run of form and won the FA Manager of the Month award. He has also become a well respected and popular figure with football fans throughout England.
