Martinus Fabri

Martinus Fabri was a composer, probably either from Flanders or the Netherlands, of the very late Middle Ages and earliest Renaissance. Most of his music was composed around 1400, but nothing is known of his life.

Four pieces survive, all ballades. Two of the ballades are in the French ars subtilior style, highly complex and mannered, with text only in the highest part (the other parts presumably would have been instrumental); the other two ballades have text in all voices. The two ballades with text in all voices are in Dutch, while the others are in French.
