Martyrdom of the 26 Saints of Japan
The incident known as the Martydom of the 26 Saints of Japan was a execution of Kirishitan which took place in Nagasaki on February 5, 1597. 26 individuals ranging from 12 to 64 years of age were crucified on crosses. They were canonized by the Roman Catholic Church.
