Maruchan
Maruchan (マルちゃん) is a brand of popular ramen noodles. It comes in many flavours, such as chicken, roast chicken, curry chicken, beef, roast beef, and vegetable. It can be found in a packaged form to be cooked on a stove, or in a cup to which boiled water is added.
Maruchan is easily the most familiar brand of ramen in America. Indeed, most Americans will think of ramen as the packaged instant noodle soup. However, in Japan, ramen is usually a fresh dish sold as fast food, often in train stations and at roadside stands.
Preparation
To prepare the packaged Maruchan noodles...
1. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a small pan.
2. Add noodles, stir frequently for three minutes.
3. Add any other things in the ramen, such as meat, vegetables, etc.
4. Turn off heat, add seasoning packet, and serve
Alternately, one may add the seasoning packet to the water to hasten boiling, and to add the flavor to the noodles while they cook.
For cup ramen...
1. Bring water to a boil
2. Add water to cup until it covers the noodles
3. Let stand for three minutes, enjoy!
