Marylebone (sometimes written St. Marylebone or Mary-le-bone) is an area in the City of Westminster north of Oxford Street and south of Regents Park. Edgware Road forms the western boundary. Tottenham Court Road form the eastern boundary. Even though estate agents and some locals have named the area between Portland Place and Tottenham Court Road - Fitzrovia, it does not exist in the London A-Z.

Marylebone gets its name from a church, called "St Mary's", that was built on the bank of a small stream or "bourne" called the tybourne, in an area named after the stream Tyburn. The church and the surrounding area later became known as St Mary at the bourne, which over time became shortened to its present form Marylebone. It is a common misunderstanding that the name is a corruption of Marie la bonne .

The Metropolitan Borough of St Marylebone was a metropolitan borough of the County of London between 1899 and 1965 when it was merged with the Metropolitan Borough of Paddington and the Metropolitan Borough of Westminster to form the London Borough of Westminster.

Today the area is mostly residential. However, centred around Marylebone High Street and Marylebone Lane, Howard de Walden Estates Ltd is keeping an eye to maintain a mix of stylish and fashionable shops and restaurants of relevance to the locals, in what it calls the Marylebone Village. It is also notable for its high Arab population, especially on the western border around Edgware Road.
