There are 1,127 housing units at an average density of 444.0/km² (1,145.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 99.06% White, 0.04% African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.27% from other races, and 0.39% from two or more races. 0.59% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,041 households out of which 30.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% are married couples living together, 11.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.5% are non-families. 31.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.38 and the average family size is 2.95.
