Mauricio Solís

Mauricio Solís Mora (born December 13, 1972 in San Jose, Costa Rica) is a Costa Rican football player, who currently plays attacking midfielder for LD Alajuelense of the Costa Rican first division.

Solís began his professional with C.S. Herediano, making his debut with the club in 1990. He would remain with Herediano through 1997, winning the Costa Rican championship in the 1992-93 season. Following 1997, Solís moved to England, signing a contract with Derby County. His stay there was short, however, and he returned to CONCACAF in 1998, playing with CSD Comunicaciones of Guatemala for a year. Solís would then move to Major League Soccer, where he played parts of the 1999 and 2000 seasons for the San Jose Clash (later San Jose Earthquakes), registering 4 goals and 1 assist in 29 starts. After two years in MLS, Solís returned to Costa Rica, where he signed a contract with LD Alajuelense. He played two seasons with the team, winning championships in 2000-01 and 2001-02, before looking overseas again, signing a contract with Greek club OFI Crete . After a year with them, Solís again returned to America, playing the 2003-4 season in Mexico for Real Irapuato .

Solís has been a mainstay for the Costa Rica national team, having received 98 caps since debuting in 1993. He played extensively for the in 2002 World Cup Qualifying and started all three of the team's games in the 2002 World Cup.
