Maxwell coil
A Maxwell coil is a device for producing a large volume of almost constant magnetic field. A Maxwell coil set consists of three coils in a slightly more complicated geometry than the Helmholtz configuration. They have the added advantage of being a 6th-order coil configuration. The ampere-turns of the upper and lower coil should equal exactly 49/64ths of the middle coil.
