McFly

McFly is a pop group based in the United Kingdom. The band members are Danny Jones (born March 12, 1986), Dougie Poynter (born November 30, 1987), Tom Fletcher (born July 17, 1985) and Harry Judd (born December 23, 1985). McFly are often described as "mates with Busted" (Harry Judd and Charlie Simpson from Busted went to the same school, Uppingham), a boy band with a similar slightly rockier edge than more well-known boy bands such as Westlife.

In spite of this modern "boy band" and "pop" image and reputation, a lot of McFly's songs have the feeling of a "proper" rock band, accentuated by the presence of all members of a typical four-piece rock band (unlike Busted, this includes a full time drummer). There are also a lot of evident influences from such popular classic (rather than modern) boy-bands as The Beach Boys and The Beatles.

McFly are signed to the Island Records label and are managed by Prestige Management . Their first single, "5 Colours In Her Hair" entered the UK singles chart at number one in April 2004 and stayed there for two weeks. In July 2004 their second single, "Obviously", also reached the top, but only for one week. This was followed by the album "Room on the 3rd Floor" debuting at number one in the UK albums chart.

The third single, "That Girl", was released on September 6, 2004 and lost out in a close battle for the top spot with Brian McFadden's "Real To Me". It was only able to make #3, despite topping midweek sales charts. The fourth single, "Room On The Third Floor" (the album's title track), was released on November 15, 2004 and only made #5, however by this time all the fans had purchased the chart-topping debut album.

In March 2005, McFly released "All About You/You've Got A Friend", the first single from their 2nd album. The single reached #1 for a week on 13 March, with profits from the single donated to Comic Relief.

The band starred in an episode of the hit British drama series Casualty. They also appeared performed on stage in Hull on 19th November 2004 as part of Children in Need.

McFly were winners of Best Pop Act at the 2005 Brit Awards .
