Mehsana

Mehsana is a town in the Gujarat state of India. Mehsana is also a district in the state of Gujarat.

This city is among the largest cities of Gujarat and is near to Ahmedabad. It houses the Dudhsagar Co-operative milk dairy.

District

Mehsana city is the administrative headquarters of this district. The district has a population of over 18 lakhs and an area of over 4500 km². There are over 600 villages in this district.

Mehsana borders with Banaskantha district in the North, Patan and Surendranagar districts in West, Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad districts in South and Sabarkantha district in the East.

Historically parts of this district have been broken off for the formation of new districts.

Modhera's Sun temple is over 900 years old and a great example of India's temple architecture.

Thol Wildlife Sanctuary with an area of 7 sq. km. in this district is near Ahmedabad. It is home to variety of wildfowl, flamingos, gray pelicans, black ibis and other wetland birds.
