Menorrhagia
Menorrhagia is an abnormally heavy and prolonged menstrual periods. This is often due to excessive build up of the womb lining (the endometrium) but may be due to the spontaneous abortion or fibroid tumours. Cancer of the endometrium usually causes irregular bleeding, rather than menorrhagia. The condition can often be treated with the contraceptive pill.
