Michael Buerk
Michael Duncan Buerk is a BBC journalist and newsreader. He was born in 1946 in Solihull, and was educated at Solihull School.
His documentaries about the 1984 famine in Ethiopia inspired Live Aid.
He presented the Nine O Clock News in the 1990s, and then the 10 O Clock News from 2000 to 2002. He presented the news over 4000 times. He also sometimes presented the Breakfast programme.
He also regularly chairs the Moral Maze on BBC Radio 4.
