Mickey Redmond
Mickey Redmond (was born December 27 1947 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario) was a hockey player and hockey TV and Radio color analyst associated with the Detroit Red Wings.
Mickey played right wing for the Montreal Canadiens from 1967-1971 winning a Stanley Cup with them in 1969. In 1971 he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings and in 1972 set a team record of 52 goals in one year, surpassing Gordie Howe.
His career ended in 1975 when a back injury sustained earlier became too painful to play with.
Mickey Redmond is a popular color analyst for the Detroit Red Wings. His no-nonsense opinionated style (reminscent of Don Cherry on CBC), colorful language ("Bingo Bango!", "this is what the fans came for!"), and history with the team make him a local celebrity.
