Misty Martinez

Misty Martinez may not be the only sex-noise provocateur, but she's certainly one of the most famous. The alter-ego of Rollerderby and Lumpen contributor Liz Armstrong , Martinez delivers strongly aggressive dadaist-type performances that lie somewhere between Crash Worship and a burlesque show. Influenced by the noise music theater antics of Costes and Lisa Crystal Carver's Suckdog, she alternately engages and attacks her audience -- verbally, physically and sexually -- while acting out an unpredictable, schizophrenic mix of little girl, stripper and impromptu antics. Random violence occasionally occurs.

Martinez is a member of To Live and Shave in L.A. 2, and often collaborates onstage with the live noise music of Carver, Cock E.S.P., Lightning Bolt, and a host of other noise music bands. She has opened for artists like Sonic Youth and Fischerspooner's DJ Unknown and has released two solo albums: Misty Martinez is an Amazon Pony U.K. and Special Brush .
