MobCulture

MobCulture is a browser-based click-through massively multiplayer online role-playing game set in the near future. It begins with the ominous greeting:

The year is 2055 CE. Corporations are greedier than ever, politicians are inventing new kinds of corruption, and the average citizen has never been more naïve.
The time for a new class of citizen is near. Will you rise to the top of your caste, or fall into the treacherous slum that is daily life?
The choice is yours...

A new player starts as a Bum with no cash or assets, and must use his or her savvy and instincts to acquire wealth, real estate, and prominence in the world. The website's slogan is, "Every game ever invented is just a way of making things hard for the fun of it." It is unknown whether MobCulture will live up to this challenge.

The creators of the game have said that MobCulture will always be free to play, but will provide additional features and benefits to players who choose to purchase "tokens" – valuable in-game items that can be redeemed for special features, or bartered to other players for money or assistance. Prices and uses for Tokens have not yet been released.

MobCulture is currently in a Closed Alpha-Test phase, and is not seeking new players prior to Open Beta. There is a notification list on the "Register!" page whereon visitors can sign up to be notified when Open Beta begins. According to the game's administrators, as of last report (00:00, 2005 Apr 1 (UTC)), 1,197 unique visitors have signed up for this list (this number will be updated as information becomes available).

More information will be published as it becomes available. This article is under continual modification and updating.
