Moira Stuart

Moira Stuart OBE was the first Black woman newsreader on British television. She has presented news on the BBC since 1981. She has also appeared on The News Quiz and normally presents the news on the BBC's Breakfast with Frost programme each Sunday. With Adam Shaw, she also presents the BBC2 personal finance series Cashing In. Moira was voted "Best Newscaster of the Year" in 1988 by the TV and Radio Industries Club Awards , and in 1989 "Best Television Personality" by the Women of Achievement Awards. In 1994 Moira was named "Best Female Television Personality" by the Black Journalists' Association , and in 1997 "Best Media Personality" by The Voice newspaper. Moira has served on various boards and judging panels including Amnesty International, The Royal Television Society, United Nations Association , the London Fair Play Consortium and the Human Genetics Advisory Commission . She currently presents the half-hourly news bulletins on BBC Breakfast.

In 2004, she took part in the BBC documentary, Who Do You Think You Are? Which helped trace back her family history. In it, she travelled up to the Scottish Highlands, as well as Antigua and Dominica.
