Montérégie
Montérégie is the second largest administrative region in Quebec. It includes the cities Boucherville , Brossard, Longueuil, Sorel, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Saint-Hyacinthe.
The majority of the population lives near the Saint-Lawrence river, on the south shore of Montreal.
The region has a population of 1,336,000, on 11,111 km² of land, giving a population density of 1,203 hab/km². In August 2004, unemployment was 7.9%.
