Mutulu Shakur
Mutulu Shakur is a revoultionary black leader, associated with groups like The Black Panthers. He was a close friend of Geronimo Pratt. In the 80's, he was arrested for RICO charges claiming that he had robbed banks to finance a militant organization, and that he had aided his radical sister, Assata Shakur, who was convicted for murdering New Jersey state trooper Werner Foerster and wounding Trooper James Harper, in escaping prison. After hiding out for five years, he was found guilty. His case is currently on appeal.
Shakur is probably best known at this point for being the stepfather of legendary slain rapper Tupac Shakur, and father of rapper Mopreme. Shakur was interviewed in the Oscar-nominated documentary "Tupac: Resurrection", where he described how he wrote a "Thug Life Handbook" with Tupac, which expressed an anti-drug and anti-violence message.
