Myron Thompson
Myron Thompson (born 1936 in Monte Vista, Colorado USA) is an dual citizen of Canada and the United States who currently sits as a Conservative Member of Parliament in the Canadian House of Commons. He represents Wild Rose, Alberta .
Thompson studied at the University of Adams State , Colorado where he received a B.A. in Business Administration and Education. After this he served two years in the American military.
Thompson moved to Canada in 1968 and became a citizen in 1974. He worked for 23 years as High School Teacher and Principal and later became Mayor of Sundre Alberta .
He was first elected to Parliament in 1993 as a member of the Reform Party and later served under its replacement the Canadian Alliance Party. He is now serving his fourth term as a member of the new Canadian Conservative Party.
While serving in opposition he has been harshly critical of the Liberal government spending and their policies on same-sex marraige , victims rights , child pornography and prison reform. He has also been one of the loudest voices against former Prime Minister Jean Chretien’s decision that Canada not take part in the Coalition of the Willing and the Iraq War.
