NWA East

NWA East or NWA Pro Wrestling Express is an independent wrestling promotion affiliated with the NWA and headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA. "PWX" has been promoting wrestling events since September, 1994, in towns such Pennsylvania towns as Pittsburgh, Punxsutawney, Erie, Johnstown, Altoona, Connelsville , Uniontown, New Castle and Sharon, as well as Wheeling, WV.

History

PWX promoter Jim Miller joined the National Wrestling Alliance in December of 1997, and began promoting PWX cards as NWA sanctioned events in January 0f 1998. Upon gaining membership, Miller was awarded the territory of Western Pennsylvania, as well as parts of Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia by the NWA Board of Directors. In 2001 Miller was also awarded the Pennsylvania areas that were vacated by former member Marc Corraluzzo, and in 2004 was given the territory of Michigan, which had been vacated earlier in the year by former member Gene Miller. Miller has not promoted cards in either area.

NWA Pro Wrestling Express first began using the name "NWA East" in 1999, after a brand extension saw cards run under both of the names "Pro Wrestling Express" and "Pittsburgh Wrestling League". NWA East was considered the governing body for both promotions, and NWA East Titles were created, but were quickly merged or phased out in 2001 when both PWX and PWL were merged back into one entity. The name NWA East was used exclusively from June 2001 until September 2004, when the company returned to using the name "NWA Pro Wrestling Express" on promotional materials for its Tenth Anniversary Event.
