Na Fianna

Na Fianna GAA Club is located in Glasnevin at the heart of the Northside of Dublin. It caters for the sporting and social needs of many connected residential areas adjacent to its location through the promotion of Gaelic games - Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and Gaelic handball - and the traditional Irish pursuits of music and dance. Céilí music and dancing is a regular feature in the club hall, while informal music sessions are a regular feature of the members' bar.

Na Fianna is a member of the Dublin GAA bodies in all the Gaelic codes of Gaelic football, hurling, camogie, ladies football and handball, and is therefore affiliated to the national organisation, the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA).

Being in the parish of Glasnevin it connects to the many family residents in the Mobhi Road/ Homefarm Road/ Ballymun Road/ Botanic Road axis, while extending its welcoming arms also to the edges of Phibsboro, North Circular Road, Glasnevin Avenue, Drumcondra Road and Griffith Avenue, thus taking in all the Iona and Drumcondra residents also.

The club also has very strong affiliations with the many schools, both primary and post-primary, in this wide catchment area. The strong liaison between the club and schools offers all parents and children a vital and consistent engagement in healthy sporting and non-sporting activities.

These non-sporting activities are almost as key to the lifeblood of the club and its community as the football and camogie stick. Na Fianna has been a leading proponent of Irish culture and the Na Fianna Céilí has long since been a source of great craic on the northside of Dublin. The club's involvement in GAA Scór is just an extension of its own regular internal Scór sessions. The club also cater for the more hip-hop minded membership with teenage discos for our younger members and friends which are organised safely by mentors and parents.

Na Fianna is at the heart of its community in both the physical, social and emotional sense. So many of the residents depend on its existence as a vital outlet for the physical development and entertainment of their families. Its fulfilment of that role is unparalleled in the area.
