Nakama-ku, Kitakyushu
This ward does not yet exist. It was intended that Nakama city be absorbed into Kitakyushu, as first proposed early in 2004 by the Nakama city council which approached Kitakyushu. But the plan stalled when the Nakama city councillors realised their number would be cut from 21 to three. On Christmas Eve 2004 the plan was rejected by Nakama city council, despite having the support of 70% of the citizens of Nakama.
