Nathan Buckley

Nathan Buckley (born July 26, 1972) is an Australian Rules football player and captain of the Collingwood Football Club.

Buckley debuted for the now-defunct Brisbane Bears Football Club, where he won the AFL Rising Star Award for best rookie, but was traded to Collingwood in 1994. He was made captain of the side in 1999, and has led the Magpies to two Grand Finals in 2002 and 2003 - both losses to the Brisbane Lions.

Nathan Buckley was a joint-winner of the 2003 Brownlow Medal with Adam Goodes and Mark Ricciuto, won the Norm Smith Medal in 2002 for a best on ground performance in a Grand Final loss against the Brisbane Lions, and has won a Collingwood-record six Club Best and Fairest Awards - named the Copeland Trophy - in 1994 (equal), 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2003. Buckley is a seven-time All-Australian and was captain of Australia's 1998 International rules football side.

Buckley was named to the half-back flank of Collingwood's Team of the Century, announced on June 14, 1997.
