Ned Sherrin

Ned Sherrin (born 18 February 1931 in Somerset, England) is a broadcaster, author and stage director.

Although training as a lawyer at Oxford University he became involved in theatre and joined British television at the founding of independent television in 1956, producing shows for ATV in Birmingham.

Specialising in satirical shows, he has since worked extensively in film production and television, in 1960 being responsible for the first satirical television series That Was The Week That Was starring David Frost and Millicent Martin. His other shows and films have included Up Pompeii, The Virgin Soldiers and Up the Junction.

Sherrin has produced and directed numerous theatre productions in London's West End, including the landmark musical, Side By Side By Sondheim . He received an Olivier Award for directing the Ratepayer Theatre's production of Iolanthe.

He currently presents Loose Ends and Counterpoint on BBC Radio 4.
