Neo-Grünfeld Defence
The Neo-Grünfeld Defense is a chess opening. It is a branch of the Grünfeld Defense in which White delays the development of his queen's knight; typical move orders (in algebraic notation) are 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 g6 3. f3 d5 (see diagram) or, more commonly, 1. d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3. g3 d5 (this latter is the Kemeri Variation).
In the Encyclopaedia of Chess Openings, the Neo-Grünfeld has the codes D70-D79.
