New Delhi Metro


The New Delhi Metro is the metro system of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited. It opened on December 24, 2002, commenced at 6:00 of the next day and finished off the Inder Lok-Rithala section on March 31, 2004. The maximum speed of the train is 80km/h (50mph) and the average stopping time at a station is 20 seconds. All trains are made by ROTEM. It is also notable that there are over 100 million people waiting for the first train on December 25, 2002, as the day was the Christmas Day and as result of excitement/curiosity in public over first ever world class metro train in India.

Delhi Metro has achieved the distinction of having an ISO 14001 certification for environment management right from the beginning of construction.
