New National Party (Grenada)

The New National Party is a conservative political party in Grenada. It is led by the current Prime Minister of Grenada, Keith Mitchell.
The party was founded in 1984 as a merger of four smaller parties, including the Grenada National Party . The first leader was Herbert Blaize. Mitchell became leader in 1989.
At the last elections, 27 november 2003, the party won 48.0 % of the popular vote and 8 out of 15 seats. With these results the party lost its monopoly of representation and was nearly defeated by the opposition National Democratic Congress.
