Nick Oliveri

Nick Oliveri (born October 21, 1971) is a United States musician from Palm Desert, California. He was a founding member in legendary desert rock band Kyuss, and joined Queens of the Stone Age in 1998 as a vocalist and bass guitarist. After two albums and years of touring with the band, he exited the group in early 2004 due to a conflict between him and Josh Homme. Nick developed the habit of destroying, trashing and tearing apart things, everywhere they went. Sometimes during shows, Nick came up to Josh after the first song and whispered the crowd was too boring, after which he grabbed full bottles of beer which he pitched into the crowd. Josh Homme stated: "Everywhere we go, Nick is a like a whirlwind passing through. And I'm sick of being the one that has to clean up the mess all the time." Josh said he was fed up with Nick's disrepect towards their fans and he was also fed up with leaving somewhere and being told he was not to come back ever again because of the destruction Nick caused.

Currently he is a part-time guitarist for The Dwarves (under the alias "Rex Everything"), vocalist/bassist/producer of his own project, Mondo Generator, and a solo artist. Oliveri has been involved with The Desert Sessions and the River City Rapists as well, in the past.

Oliveri was known for playing bare chested and often naked at gigs, causing many authorities to order him to cover up, most memorably he was arrested in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil after a nude performance at a festival show.

As of June 1, 2004 Oliveri has completed a solo acoustic album Demolition Day for a 2005 release on Tornado Records. [1]
