Nimiq 1
Nimiq 1 is a Canadian geosynchronous communications satellite that was launched on November 21 1999 by a Proton K Blok DM-3 rocket from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Nimiq is an Inuit word used for an object or a force which binds things together. It is Canada's first direct broadcast digital TV satellite It was launched by Telesat, a Canadian communications company. Telesat is a subsidiary of BCE: Bell Canada Enterprise Inc.
