North Jersey

North Jersey includes the New Jersey portion of the Hudson Valley in the United States.

New Jersey is sandwiched between two important cities: New York, New York and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. "North Jersey" is theoretically the area within the New York City sphere of influence.

Generally, when people talk about North Jersey, they mean the more northeastern parts of New Jersey near New York City, which include [[Essex County (New Jersey}|Essex]], Hudson , Union , Bergen ) and Passaic counties. Middlesex county is also occasionally considered to be part of classic North Jersey, as it's close proximity to Staten Island makes it more New York influenced in it's culture. However, Sussex, Morris, and Warren counties are part of North Jersey as well. And typicaly considered central Jersey counties Somerset, Middlesex, Hunterdon, Mercer, and Monmouth, as well as parts of Ocean, are generally considered North Jersey, and now even more so as their population grows faster and many former New Yorkers settle in these parts of New Jersey.

The historic province of East Jersey in roughly the same area as the contemporary North Jersey.
