Northwest
Northwest is the ordinal direction halfway between west and north on a compass. It is the opposite of southeast.
See also North West England and Pacific Northwest.
"Old Northwest" in the United States refers to the region usually known as the Midwest. This usage is preserved in the names of companies like Norwest Bank (now Wells Fargo) and Northwest Airlines.
