Liberal Party (Norway)

Venstre (the Norwegian word for: Left, sometimes referred to as the Liberal Party in international context) is a liberal party in Norway, subscribing to social-liberalism. It is the oldest political party in Norway, founded in 1884 as a critic of the Swedish-Norwegian Union. It currently holds two out of 165 seats in the Norwegian Parliament and has three cabinet ministers out of 19. As of 2005, the current leader (since 1996) is Lars Sponheim.
