Olaf Zinke
Olaf Zinke was a German speedskater who was specialised in the distances 1000 metres and 1500 metres. In 1990 at a World Cup race in Helsinki he proved his skill at toplevel for the first time, finishing first in the 1000m leaving Dan Jansen and Eric Flaim behind him, and in the same weekend he won the 1500 metres by outpacing Johann Olav Koss and Michael Hadschieff . He peaked again at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville. Leaving the Korean Yun-Man Kim behind by 1 hundred of a second Zinke won the 1000 metres race, thereby achieving the olympic gold medal.
